Susan Hood

Susan Hood​is the award-winning author of more than 200 books for ages 1-​14​, including picture books, poetry, beginning readers​, middle grade,​ and works of nonfiction. As a former editor with Sesame Street, Nick Jr. and Scholastic, ​Susan LOVES speaking to kids ages Pre-K to Grade 8.

ADA’S VIOLIN was awarded the 2017 E.B. White Honor Award, the 2017 Christopher Medal, the 2017 Américas Award,​ and ​the 2017 Bank Street Flora Steiglitz Straus Award given to a “distinguished work of nonfiction that serves as an inspiration for young people.”

LIFEBOAT 12 is the winner of the 2019 Connecticut Book Award, and the 2020 Oklahoma Children’s Sequoyah Award, and a runner-up in the 2019-2020 Maine Student Book Awards and the 2020 Rhode Island Middle School Book Awards. It is also nominated for state awards in Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Vermont.
